Guide Dogs Queensland
As proud and long-standing supporters of Guide Dogs Queensland, Macrossans Lawyers’ staff will join the team of
pawknockers for the annual Pawknock Appeal from 16-30 April, 2008.
Every year, Guide Dogs Queensland recruits thousands of people across the state to hit the streets and offices, knocking on the doors of neighbours, colleagues and local businesses asking for donations.
GDQ Communications and Marketing Manager Donna Hurley said every donation directly benefi ted the Guide Dog breeding and training program.
“We receive less than seven per cent in government funding; however none of these funds cover our Guide Dogs, which
cost more than $25,000 each to breed and train,” she said.
She said the association had recently welcomed three new litters of puppies including nine golden retriever puppies
that were born on February 5 2008.
“We need the community to help us raise these puppies and provide them free of charge to those vision impaired
Queenslanders to provide them with independence. There are currently 90 clients using a Guide Dog and a further
1500 accessing our rehabilitation services statewide.”
